Kana Football Club got another shutout win after dominating TanHoldings FC, 5-0, in the girls U15 division of the 2017 NMIFA Youth Spring League last Saturday at the Francisco Mendiola Sablan Middle School Field.

Paulyn Grace Joyce had a hat trick for Kanoa, which now moves to solo first place in the division with its 2-0-0 win-draw-loss record. Joyce and company also blanked Paire in their season-debut game, 3-0, last Feb. 18.

Joyce drew first blood for Kanoa with her shot in the seventh minute and her team went on to take a 3-0 halftime edge after Princess Alcantara scored in the 26th minute and the former earned her second goal two minutes later. Joyce completed the hat trick in the 39th minute, while Ericka Santiago closed out for Kanoa with her goal in the 60th.

Paire 3, Matansa FC 1
In the second game last Saturday, Paire battled back from its season-debut loss with a victory over Matansa.

Erin Frink towed Paire past Matansa after scoring three goals. Her first goal came early as she found her target in the third minute, while the last two were recorded in a span of four minutes as Frink hit the board in the 41st and 45th minute.

Matansa, which fell to a 0-0-2 record to join TanHoldings at the bottom of the team standings, drew its lone goal from Jannah Casarino, who averted the shutdown in the 48th minute.

Southern 2, MP United 2
United foiled the upset bid of the debuting Southern FC after forcing a draw in the curtain-raiser last week.

Southern, which is competing in the division for the first time, boosted its chances to enter the win column after Mariana Castro scored in the 37th minute for their 2-0 advantage. Ten minutes earlier, Keisha De Leon Guerrero handed Southern its first goal of the season.

A conversion from Francesca Bucalig in the 39th minute moved MP United within one and the squad went on to equalize, thanks to Maya Shimizu’s shot in the 56th minute. With the draw, MP United now has 1-1-0 card.

BOYS U17
TanHoldings 1, Paire 0

TanHoldings made it three in a row after slipping past Paire in the first game in the division at the Hopwood Junior High School Field.

Jonathan Capayas scored the lone goal for TanHoldings in the 68th minute. With its three-game winning streak, TanHoldings kept the top spot, while Paire fell to the bottom of the team standings after absorbing its second loss in as many matches.

Kanoa 4, Matansa 1
Kanoa snapped its two-game losing skid after downing Matansa in the other match in the division.

Kanoa, which fell to MP United and TanHoldings, drew goals from four different players to break into the win column. Angelo Ada put Kanoa on the board with his equalizer in the 34th minute. Earlier in the opening minute, Joshua De Leon found the back of the net to give Matansa the lead.

The game remained in a deadlock in the first half before Ian Karl Maniago’s goal just five minutes into the second half put Kanoa in front. It was all Kanoa from thereon with Jhoey Noble scoring in the 63rd minute and Andruw Omelau also lighting up the board for the winning team three minutes later.

Matansa’s long silence after De Leon’s goal handed the team its second defeat in as many games.
