Kanoa FC and the Thundercats crushed separate foes in the 2014 M-League last Sunday at the Oleai Sports Complex.
The Thundercats played in the second game last weekend and pounded the CNMI Women’s National Team, 6-0, while Kanoa FC battled Matansa in the third match and cruised to a 7-2 triumph.
Don Cabrera led the Thundercats’ demolition of the Commonwealth’s female players with his pair of goals, while four of his teammates chipped in one apiece. Seung Woo Lee scored first for the Thundercats, while Makani Gramlich and Kei Yoshida drilled the next two before Cabrera’s first goal gave the team a 4-0 halftime lead. Juanito Tiamzon then made it to the board in the second half, while Cabrera completed the lopsided win with his second goal late in the final frame.
In the Kanoa-Matansa tiff, Evan Belcher was unstoppable for the former, as he connected on a hat-trick. The youthful striker canned Kanoa’s back-to-back goals in the first half, scoring in the sixth and 21st minute. Despite Belcher’s strong start, Matansa remained in the game, as it got a goal from Anamul Haque in the first half.
However, Matansa failed to keep up with the young crew of Kanoa in the second half, as Belcher and company continued to be aggressive on offense. Belcher added another goal a few minutes after Ho Jin Woo scored in the second half, while Junsik Kim, John Diego Masga, and Marc Mora logged the last three goals. Matansa answered only once to Kanoa’s attack with Dhiraj Chhetri scoring midway in the second half.
In other results last Sunday, Inter Godfather’s and Wild Bill’s topped separate foes, while MP United also won its assignment last March 5.
Inter Godfather’s defeated Korean Football Association on Saipan, 5-1. Masatoshi Otsuka gave Inter twin goals, while Bruce Berline and Chris Nelson added one each.
Inter Godfather’s four goals were all recorded in the second half, while it got an own goal one minute before the first frame wrapped up. The first half concluded in a deadlock, as KFAS also had an own goal in the 39th minute.
Berline then broke the tie with his goal in the 66th minute, while Nelson also scored four minutes to give Inter Godfather’s more cushion, while Otsuka finished what his teammates started, notching two straight goals late in the second half.
Joining Inter Godfather’s on the winners list last Sunday was Wild Bills, which shut out MP United, 2-0. Thanyakorn Konkoed and Robert Jordan scored for Wild Bill’s early, hitting their targets in the third and sixth minute, respectively.
Meanwhile, before the loss to Wild Bill’s, MP United came off a 5-1 triumph over Matansa last week. Jireh Yobech drilled the first two goals for MP United, while Erik Cepeda, Ian Mulligan, and Daniel Westphal recorded the last three.
