Kanoa climbs up; TanHoldings keeps lead

Kanoa Football Club took the lead in the girls U16 division of the 2019 NMIFA Fall Youth League, while TanHoldings Football Club strengthened its hold of the top spot in the boys U18 age group after Week 5 action at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville last Saturday.
Kanoa downed TanHoldings, 5-2, to grab the driver’s seat from the latter in the girls U16 division. Paulyn Joyce towed Kanoa to the victory, as the forward scored four goals after lighting up the board in the 25th, 55th, 58,th, and 67th minute. Lynzey Green delivered the other goal for Kanoa, as she posted the game’s first goal in the 13th minute.
The new division leader now has a 4-1-0 win-draw-loss record, slightly ahead of TanHoldings (4-0-1) and Southern United FC (3-1-1). Shirley’s Football Club (2-0-3), MP United (1-0-4), and Matansa (0-0-5) rounded out the team standings.
TanHoldings dropped to second after drawing only one goal apiece from Stephanie Flores and Kaithlyn Chavez.
In other results in the division, Southern United and Shirley’s eased past their respective foes.
Southern United is lurking behind Kanoa and TanHoldings after beating MP United, 6-1.
Summer Manahane starred in Southern United’s third victory of the season after drilling a hat trick, while Katelyn Palacios, Megan Elayda, and Marinel Falalimpa contributed one goal each. MP United’s lone goal in the lopsided match was courtesy of Jin Hoo Woo.
Shirley’s made it two in a row after dropping its first three games following a 9-3 rout of Matansa.
Katrina Costales powered Shirley’s to the easy win after posting six goals, while Shairmaine Olivos chipped in two, and Jemaine Gison registered one. Jannah Casarino recorded all of Matansa’s three goals.
BOYS U18
TanHoldings 2, Kanoa 0
TanHoldings gained more cushion in the team standings in the boys U18 division after shutting down Kanoa last Friday.
Taka Borja and Joshua Mendez scored for TanHoldings, which now has a 4-1-0 record to lead MP United (3-0-2), Kanoa (2-1-2), and Matansa (0-0-5).
MP United 6, Matansa 0
MP United also blanked Matansa in the other match in the division for its third win.
John Michael Rojas tallied three goals for MP United, which drew one apiece from Jonathan Lim, Dylan Mister, and Eun Syu Hahn.
