Kanoa-1, Paire down Division A foes

Kanoa Football Club-1 kept its undefeated record, while Paire recovered quickly in the Division A of the 2018 Dove Spring Women’s League.

An 8-4 victory over sister team Kanoa-2 last week at the TSL Sports Complex’s artificial turf gave Kanoa-1 a 4-1-0 win-draw-loss record, while Paire improved to a 3-0-2 slate following a 4-2 triumph over Shirley’s FC. Kanoa-2 fell to a 2-1-2 mark for third place behind Kanoa-1 and Paire, while TanHoldings (1-0-3) and Shirley’s (1-0-4) are at the bottom two of the team standings.

Paire, which bowed to Kanoa-1 last April 19 (6-8) drew all of its four goals from Gillian Villagomez to beat Shirley’s. Villagomez hit the board in the third, sixth, 10th, and 18th minute, while Shirley’s got its pair of goals from Diana Maniacop and Katrina Costales in the fourth and 10th, respectively.

In the other Division A match, Paulynn Joyce stood out for Kanoa-1 in its easy win over Kanoa-2. Joyce nailed five goals in succession, starting her string of shots in the 14th minute, while his last four came in the 11th, 22nd, 23rd, and 37th. Kristelle Itaas made the two other goals for Kanoa-1, while Princess Alcantara added one.

Irish Pagarao had a brace for Kanoa-2, recording her first in the 19th minute and the second in the 34th. Krizel Tuazon and Therize Millare contributed one goal apiece for the losing squad.

Meanwhile, MY Pros handed MP United-1 its first loss after escaping with a 2-1 victory in their Division B game at the Chacha Oceanview Middle School last Sunday.

Soledad Quan posted the go-ahead goal for MY Pros in the 39th minute, while Christen Steinkuller registered the other one in the first half. MY Pros now has a 4-0-1 record to tie MP United-1 in first place. Chiharu Sato delivered the lone goal for MP United-1.

In other results, Paire nipped MP United-2, 2-1, while TanHoldings shut down Shirley’s FC, 7-0.

Paire improved to a 3-0-2 mark for second place in the team standings, while MP United-2 is at third with its 1-1-3 slate. TanHoldings moved out of the cellar after notching its first victory in four games, while Shirley’s is still winless in four matches.

In the Masters division, Matansa defeated Topnotch, which later battled back and downed TanHoldings.
