Kanoa-1 clinches Division A crown

Kanoa Football Club-1 kept its undefeated record in the 2018 Dove Spring Women’s League to secure the Division A championship in the five-team field.
Kanoa-1 finished the double-round robin tournament with a 7-1-0 win-draw-loss record following a 2-1 triumph over TanHoldings FC last Thursday at the TSL Sports Complex’s artificial turf. Kanoa-1 is the first team to complete its assignments this season and led by three wins against the second-running Paire (4-0-3). Kanoa-2 (3-1-3), Shirley’s FC (2-0-5), and TanHoldings (1-0-6) round out the standings.
Paulynn Grace Joyce and Sharmaine Francisco delivered the goals for Kanoa-1, which was stunned early by TanHoldings after Christine Barrozo scored with less than a minute gone by in the first half. Joyce’s goal in the second minute tied the match, while Francisco hit the go-ahead in the 11th.
In other results in the division, Shirley’s notched its second win after dominating Kanoa-2, 10-4.
Katrina Costales powered Shirley’s to the victory after firing six goals. She scored four straight goals from the seventh to the 27th minute, while her two other shots were recorded in the third and 38th. Diana Maniacop added three goals, which also came in succession, while Marrielle Gariguez made one.
Shirley’s will go for win No. 3 tonight when it faces TanHoldings in the penultimate game in the division. For the last game, Paire will take on Kanoa-2.
DIVISION B
MPU-1 7, MPU-2 2
MP United FC-1 fortified its hold on the top spot in Division B after beating sister team MP United-2 last Sunday at the Chacha Oceanview Middle School Field.
MP United-1 now has a 5-1-1 record, two wins ahead of MY Pros and Paire, which have similar 3-1-2 marks. TanHoldings (2-1-3), MPU-2 (1-2-4), and Shirley’s (1-2-3) complete the standings.
Malika Miyawaki led MP United-1 victory last weekend after drilling a hat trick. She hit the board in the 17th, 26th, and 32nd minute. Julia Ishikawa added a pair in the third and 14th minute, while Julie Hall and Lydia Tan contributed one each. Marie Aldan made the brace for MP United-2.
Paire 3, TanHoldings 2
Paire gained win No. 3 after slipping past TanHoldings in the other match in the division.
Anisa Villagomez registered two goals for Paire, including the go-ahead in the 53rd minute. Her other goals was posted in the 33rd minute, while Miles River drew first blood for Paire in the ninth.
Kaithlynn Andrei Chavez knocked in a pair of goals for TanHoldings.
Meanwhile, Shirley’s got a free win last weekend, as MY Pros did not have enough players (only five at the start of the game) for the 4pm match.
