Kagman’s Tank Beach needs signage for tourists

One of the most sought-after beaches on Saipan still lacks directional signage that would point tourists and visitors in the right direction.

Tank Beach, one of the historic beaches of Saipan, still causes confusion among tourists who travel to Kagman in search of the beach.

Majority of tourists usually end up driving through Pine Dr., ending up at local residents’ homes or dead ends.

Over the years, tourists have either ended up on Rosewood Ave. or in other streets where they seemingly get lost with all the turns and curves within the secondary roads.

One Chinese tourist over the weekend asked Saipan Tribune where Tank Beach was because his map indicated where the location was but there were so many turns that he had gotten completely lost.

A Korean tourist with his family members told Saipan Tribune over the weekend that they had been driving for nearly an hour looking for Tank Beach.

Rep. Lorenzo I. Deleon Guerrero (Ind-Saipan), who represents Precinct 5, told Saipan Tribune that his office is “looking into the matter and we will plan on putting up a temporary sign so that tourists don’t get lost.”

Signs for Forbidden Island have already been put in place, but in English.

Deleon Guerrero said they will work on the matter to find an easier way for visitors going to Kagman.

Marianas Visitors Authority managing director Perry Tenorio told Saipan Tribune yesterday that they will talk with the Division of Parks and Recreations and seek its assistance.
