Kagman is pilot area for upgraded internet

As part of IT&E’s continuing efforts to provide improved services to all of its customers by enhancing the CNMI’s telecommunications infrastructure, IT&E announced yesterday that it has started testing increased Internet speeds and capacity to a group of selected residents in Kagman.

Kagman is one of the most densely populated areas on Saipan. This made it an ideal location to measure improvement in service and superior customer experience. The tests so far have been extremely successful and residents an increase in speeds of up to 40 mbps [megabytes per second] in their homes.

IT&E is investing millions of dollars in both its buried and wireless networks to provide improved internet speeds as well as the overall experience through service. These improvements include burying fiber optic cables around the island, connecting all cellular sites to this fiber optic network, and expanding the 4G/LTE capabilities at several additional locations.

IT&E is testing these improved networks for both business and residential customers in various locations around Saipan and expects to complete these tests by the end of the month. IT&E expects to offer these new fiber-based services to its customers beginning in early 2017.

IT&E is currently evaluating its existing internet solutions with these new improvements in mind. Customers can expect to avail of bundled services with faster Internet speeds, at affordable rates. As always, IT&E will continue to invest and provide the people of the Marianas with a link to the world around them by constantly upgrading and improving its fixed and wireless services. (IT&E)
