The second suspect in a burglary case at a house in Kagman II pleaded guilty yesterday and was slapped with a four-month prison term.

John Ilo Jr., 23, pleaded guilty to criminal mischief as part of the plea deal. The remaining charges were dropped.

Superior Court associate judge David A. Wiseman sentenced Ilo to a year in jail, all suspended except for four months, with credit for time served. He will begin serving his sentence on April 23, 2012. Once he gets out, he will be placed on probation for three years.

Ilo was also directed to pay a $200 fine, $25 court assessment fee, plus probation fee, and to pay restitution to the victim. He was also required to perform 50 hours of community service.

Ilo damaged the screen window of the house of Joseph Muna when he broke into the home on Jan. 17, 2012.

Ilo’s accomplice, 18-year-old Felix Muna Kileleman, pleaded guilty to the same charge on April 4 and was also sentenced to four months in prison.

Police detective Jeffrey Norita stated in his report that two police officers responded to a burglary report at a house in Kagman III on Jan. 17 at 11:06pm.

The house’s owner told the officers that his residence had been burglarized and that a witness saw two persons leaving the place earlier. The witness said the two, whom she identified as Ilo and Kileleman, were carrying two duffle bags.

The two officers later proceeded to Kileleman’s residence in Kagman where they met the two suspects. Upon questioning by the officers, Norita said the suspects confessed that they were the ones who burglarized the victim’s house.

A crime scene technician returned some of the recovered items, but still missing at the time were a small bolt cutter, a wedding ring, 10 Gerber knives, and three folding chairs, all valued at $1,510.
