KagHS JROTC does well in drill competition
– Bags one of four 1st place trophies
– Garners 2nd place overall
The atmosphere was electric at the CNMI Regional Drill Eliminations that took place at Marianas High School between MHS, Kagman High School, and Saipan Southern High School on Jan. 14, 2012. This event was intended to select the team that will go to Los Angeles, California, for the 8th Brigade Regional Competition.
Saipan Southern High’s Manta Ray Battalion emerged as the overall winner in the competition, taking home three of the four drill honors: the Color Guard, Armed Drill, and Fancy Armed Exhibition.
Kagman High School took first place in the Armed Drill Inspection and placed second overall, with MHS placing third overall.
Armed Inspection consists of a 13-member Rifle Drill Team that gets inspected by the four judges who check each cadet for appearance, general knowledge in military subjects and current events. Each cadet must execute inspection arms so the grader can look over his or her rifle for cleanliness.
The competition was fierce; all teams looked great and performed at their peak. It was a sight to see, with breathtaking moves from the rifle exhibition drill teams that thrilled the onlookers and the discipline that was displayed by the cadets in all areas was impressive.
Special thanks go to the Multiple School Unit Headquarters who hosted this event: Director of Army Instruction LTC Gay, SFC Damian, Joe Sablan, and Phillip Quitugua.
Congratulation to the SSHS JROTC Armed Team, which will represent the CNMI at the Regional Drill Meet. They will be accompanied by the Rota and Tinian Unarmed Drill Team. (PR)
