Just a reminder

Gov. Inos and members of the Legislature, this is just to remind you that back in September 2013, settlement hearing judge Frances Tydingco-Gatewood told us that Public Law 17-82 stated that you will pay the DB members the 20 percent first and then the rest within 30 days.

Because there was not enough money back then, you didn’t comply with this law. You also went ahead and made a settlement agreement to pay them their contribution only, which is very destructive to their future retirement plan. Because of fear and the threat of losing all their money they went ahead and signed the waiver because you did not defend their contribution’s interest from being taken by the court and Betty John’s attorney.

And when I ask who is paying us the interest, Judge Gatewood said you guys—the government. Since you’re past due with the interest and you’ve destroyed our plan to invest to retire elsewhere, this is just a reminder on behalf of all active DB members that you comply in paying us the rest of our money at once—not by parcel, by group, or whatever you’re planning to do next to save your retirement. We are demanding that you pay us all at once. It’s our turn now.

To help the retirees I suggest that you restore the 25 percent first before you refund. Refund whatever is left that will not jeopardize the retirees’ future pension. Not doing so may jeopardize their future pension again. Do not attempt to pay the active DB by parcels again. Our suffering should be enough already.

So for the sake of the DB members who suffering now without retirement, have a heart and pay them all at once first and let us be at peace with each other.

Lami dai, if only you took a chance and issued two casino licenses, you won’t have this issue. Won’t it be better to take a chance to issue two licenses and get sued or just one and still get sued? My guess is that if you amend for two and you get sued, the other party might help you, plus we are secured with funds. But what you did, there is a possible lawsuit, and a possible funds deficit again. So, think about it guys, before it’s to late. You’re heading for a super typhoon.
