The No. 2 seed Junior Nationals continue their dominance in the major league and extend their hot-streak during their makeup game against the last place Braves, 4-2, in the 2023 Tan Holdings-Saipan Baseball League last Saturday at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field.

The Junior Nationals drew first blood in the third inning after two runs were scored by Jylon Sablan and J.R. Suel.

It was 2-0 until the fifth inning when the Braves’ Jonathan Norita found an opening for a base hit, stole second base, and came home. Teammate Ton Norita walked and scored on an RBI single by Manny Camacho.

The Braves were fortunate to have scored two runs when they did because they were shut down in order in the first four innings.

Nine of their batters were struck out by Junior Nationals pitcher Benji Palacios at this point and with the help of pitcher J.P. Sablan later in the game, managed to put up goose eggs on the scoreboard after they allowed only one more hit in the sixth inning.

Only four hits were allowed by both Junior Nationals pitchers throughout the game and with the help of the offense, got the win.

In their last at-bat, the Junior Nationals scored two runs after a walk, then an RBI base hit by Joell Borja, who then ran home on another RBI single by Albert Adriano.

This week should be the last week of regular season games with the postseason schedule to be determined.

Currently, the Cardinals are on top of the standings with nine wins; the Junior Nationals are second with a 7-2 record; third place is the Falcons at 6-3; the Brewers are 5-4; the middle of the pack are the CK Bears and the Natives at an even 4-4; the Blue Jays are 4-5; the D-9ers and Survivors are tied at 3-7; the Bandits are at 2-6; and the Braves are at the bottom at 2-7.
