Junior golfer Lawrence Camacho, Jr. tamed the Marianas Country Club course to rule the 2011 Refaluwasch Golf Association 2-man Scramble Tournament last Sunday.

Camacho shot a 2-under par 34 on the front nine and played even better on the back with a 4-under par 32 for a 6-over par 66. Deducting his 10 handicap, the junior golfer carded the tournament best net score of 56.

Camacho won the competition against five pairs. He went solo in the 2-man scramble tournament as only 11 players showed up for the event at MCC. Despite going on his own, Camacho still played two balls and had an impressive performance at the 72-hole course with his eagle on the hole No. 15 and birdies on No. 12 and 13.

Actually, Camacho tied Mr. Kim and Han for the lowest net score, but the two Koreans were only guest players and were disqualified from winning the RGA-sanctioned event. The guests, who had a 14 handicap, were consistent with their games at MCC, firing 35s on both nines for a gross 70.

Coming in at second place behind Camacho was the pair of Joe Saures and Ulysis Kapileo, who combined for a net 63. The duo had an 11 handicap and tallied 37 on both nines for a gross 74.

The teams of Nick Guerrero and Jess Wabol and Tom Tebuteb and Dwaine Stephens recorded identical net scores of 63.5. Guerrero and Wabol shared a 10.5 handicap and drilled a 36 and 38 on the front and back nines, respectively, for a gross 74. Tebuteb and Stephens, who held a 16.5 handicap, scored a gross 80 off a 41 on the front and 39 on the back.

Tars Olopai and Manny Mangarero completed the field and tallied a net 66. The duo combined for six handicap and carded a gross 72 after making a 34 and 38 on the front and back nines, respectively. Olopai also had a closest to the pin shot on No. 6, while Stephens had the same feat on No. 10, 11, and 12.

Meanwhile, RGA will have both its November Ace Tournament and December qualifier on Nov. 6 at Coral Ocean Point. Next up will be the RGA Club Championship on Dec. 11 and then the Family Fun Day on Dec. 18. Venues for the last two events will be announced later
