June 26 to July 1 is Young Professionals Week

The week of June 26 to July 1 is Young Professional’s Week in the CNMI.

Senate President Arnold Palacios, who is currently the acting governor, signed yesterday a proclamation declaring Young Professional’s Week in the CNMI at the office of Bridge Capital LLC.

The proclamation recognizes young professionals as integral to the CNMI workforce and their role as the economic, social and cultural future of the Commonwealth.

Yesterday’s signing was attended by Bridge Capital officers and the directors and members of the Marianas Young Professionals, a committee of the Saipan Chamber of Commerce that is composed mostly of young professionals.

MYPros president Matt Deleon Guerrero said the proclamation “gets it out there that young professionals are important members of society and the community and that there is a group of dedicated young folks that want to do good and be able to contribute to the community and be able to network.”

MYPros was established two years ago.

“Bo Palacios and I got together after being inspired by a group out of Guam. We wanted to start something on Saipan,” said Nola Hix, vice president and MyPROS co-founder.

Palacios is hopeful that young professionals will help build the CNMI. “ Our community is hopeful and expecting a lot from young professionals. Your role and your contribution will be defined for the betterment of the community.”

The week will have events for young professionals in the community.

“Our goal is to connect the young professionals in the community so they can advance civically, socially and professionally so they can be better set to take on roles in the future. We invite who’s interested to join in some of the events and hopefully gain something from it,” Deleon Guerrero said.

The activities during the Young Professional’s Weeks are as follows:
• June 27, 6pm-9pm: MYPros Adulting 101: Personal finance mixer at Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan’s Chambre Bar
• June 28, 9am-3pm: Bank of Guam’s small business seminar at Saipan World’s Resort
• June 29, 6pm-9pm: MYPros small business happy hour at Bubba Gump’s private room,
• June 30, 6pm-9pm: MYPros dunking booth fundraiser at the 2017 Liberation Ggrounds
• July 1, 6pm-10pm: MYPros “White Gala” at the Surf Club Saipan
