The CNMI Judiciary held a memorial ceremony in the Supreme Court to honor probation officer II John Peter Duenas Del Rosario, who passed away last March 25 at the age of 37.

The Judiciary presented the family with memorial plaque and the CNMI flag in recognition of Del Rosario’s “distinguished service in the pursuit of justice” as a probation officer since Nov. 1, 2004.

Del Rosario’s mother, Rose, and his common-law wife, Darah L. Benavente, and their daughter, Aidin, were present at the ceremony. Other family members, relatives, friends, judges, justices, co-workers, and community leaders also attended the ceremony.

Rose, 57, said his son is the oldest of her six children.

“He [was] good. He [taught] his siblings how to respect. He guide[d] them in many ways,” the tearful mother said in an interview.

Chief Probation Officer Ursula I. Lifoifoi-Aldan said she can attest to the Judiciary and the Commonwealth that Del Rosario truly did the community justice.

“His dedication, compassion, professionalism and commitment to excellence providing public safety, court reports, rehabilitation, making offenders accountable and victims wholesome…cannot be said enough. He made big impact in people’s services as an agent of change,” Lifoifoi-Aldan said.
