JSTA leads holiday cleanup in Garapan

In preparation for higher visitor arrivals during Christmas and New Year’s, the Japan Saipan Travel Association and its tourism partners conducted a cleanup of the main tourist district of Garapan on Dec. 23, 2017.
Fifty-two volunteers from 20 companies and offices joined the cleanup beginning at 6:30am. Volunteers, including many children, spread out and cleaned up along both the roadside and the beach from American Memorial Park to the Carolinian Affairs Office.
Joining JSTA in the beautification effort were the Consular Office of Japan, Marianas Visitors Authority, Northern Marianas Dive Operators Association, Aqua Blue, Aqua Connections, CMLC, Divesite With, Himawari Kenbukan, HIS Saipan Inc, Kan Pacific, KCA Corp., Make Sure Diving, Marianas Sports Club, Oleai Beach Bar and Grill, Pacific Development Inc., Pacific Eagle, Pacific Micronesia Tours, SNE Saipan, and Tasi Tours and Transportation.
The cleanup effort netted over 100 lbs of trash, compared to 150 lbs collected in 2017 during the same holiday cleanup. (MVA)
