JP Memorial Walk Glow Run & Health Fair this Saturday

Tan Holdings is holding its annual JP Walk this coming Saturday, July 30. The event, dubbed JP Memorial Walk Glow Run & Health Fair, celebrates the life of John Pangelinan, the former publisher of Saipan Tribune.

This year’s theme is “Glowing for a Cure” and keeping with the theme, organizers will be giving away a glow bracelet and an event T-shirt for the first 500 paid registrants. Registration is $10 per person.

Organizers will also be selling glow accessories like bracelets, aviator glasses, necklaces, light up bear, among others.

In the past, the JP Walk was exclusive only for Saipan Tribune staff, Tan Holdings employees, and Pangelinan’s family. However, this year organizers are expanding it to the community, not only to honor Pangelinan but also to promote awareness against cancer and to promote a healthier lifestyle.

The JP Memorial Walk Glow Run & Health Fair will start at 5pm and will kick off with an opening speech from the Commonwealth Cancer Association’s Juan L. Babauta. It will be followed by a warm-up activity.

Like previous years, the JP Walk’s route will start from the Garapan Fishing Base and finish at the Saipan Beach Hotel for those who sign up for the 3-kilomter route; and the Quartermaster Road intersection for 5K sign-ups.

There will also be raffle after the run. Prizes at stake are a round-trip ticket to the Philippines or gift cards from Fiesta Resort & Spa, Kanoa Resort, Century Hotel, D&Q, Cosmos Distributors, Let’s Go Tour Company, and Shirley’s Coffee Shop. Raffle tickets are $5 apiece.

All the funds raised from the event will be given to the 2017 Marianas March Against Cancer in behalf of Tan Holdings.

Pangelinan was born on Oct. 26, 1937 and died on Feb. 5, 2008 after a long and brave battle against cancer.

For more information about this event, please go to the second floor of the JP Center Bldg, Beach Road, Garapan and look for Eunice Angeles or call (670) 235-0561.
