Kana Football Club ’s Paulynn Joyce and MP United’s Andrew Chung won the Golden Boot titles in their respective divisions in the 2017 NMIFA Fall Youth League
Joyce, despite failing to score in their final game of the season last Saturday at the Francisco M. Sablan Middle School Field, still had the most goals in the girls U15 division after collecting 13 in 10 matches. She had three in their 5-1 semis win over Southern United FC for the baker’s dozen and a slim lead over runner-up Jerlyn Castillo (12).
Castillo, who plays for Southern United, moved up to No. 2 at the end of the season and dislodged Shirley’s Therize Millare, after making a hat-trick in their 4-2 win over MP United in the battle for third place last Saturday.
Millare dropped to third, as she got only one goal in their final game this season for a total of 11. Millare’s teammate Katherin Magat was the fourth player in the division to register at least 10 goals this fall after adding one more during their 3-1 penalty shootout loss to Kanoa-1 in their title game last Saturday. The two Shirley’s players made the goals that sent the championship game to a shootout.
Valerie Myers (7)and Katrina Costales (7), also from Shirley’s, MP United’s Stella McCallion (6) and Maury Zon Tybaco (8), Kanoa’s Princess Alcantara (5) and Khristelle Itaas (5), and Matansa’s Jannah Casarino (5) rounded out the Top 10.
Meanwhile, in the co-ed U12 division, Chung is the runaway Gold Boot winner after gaining 39 goals. He capped the season by scoring the lone goal in MP United’s 1-2 loss at the hands of Kanoa-1 during the division title-deciding game last Saturday at the Hopwood Middle School Field.
The MP United striker scored in all 10 games this season, getting six goals in their first two matches and on Week 8 of the league. He prevailed over Paire’s Dylan Mister, who earned 21 after adding three more in their last match of the season, and TanHoldings’ Anthony Bergancia (19). Matansa’s Jin Xin Wen jumped from fifth to fourth with his 18 goals, while TanHoldings’ Angelo Pulido settled for fifth after tallying 16.
Other players who scored at least 10 goals this season were TanHoldings’ Mark Joseph Roque (12), Kanoa-1’s Markus Toves (11) and Andrew Sablan (13), Matansa’s Alex Megino (11), and MP United’s Richard Castro (11).
