The Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. has introduced a virtual 5K/1-mile Mental Health Awareness Month Run that will go on for the entire month of May.

The CHC Community Guidance Center is encouraging everyone to participate in the virtual event to spread awareness about mental health from May 3 to May 31, and the best part, it’s at your own pace and at your own convenience.

For those who would like to support the virtual run, all you must do is download any running app, record your distance, and post a screenshot with the hashtags #MENTALHEALTHMATTERS and #NMI4MENTALHEALTH.

With May proclaimed Mental Health Awareness Month, the CGC says is a timely reminder that one’s emotional, psychological, and social well-being are important to one’s overall health.

CGC encourages everyone struggling to try out the “Five Senses Grounding Technique” to calm yourself when faced with challenging thoughts, emotions, or situations.

If you or a loved one is feeling overwhelmed by stress and feel you cannot cope, there are ways to get help. You can reach out to the CHCC: Community Guidance Center at 323-6560/1 or the National Suicide Prevention Hotline at 1-800-273-8255.
