Joeten, Saipan Ice score easy wins

Joeten Enterprises and Saipan Ice scored easy wins over separate opponents in the Inter Commercial Business Basketball League 2015 last Tuesday night at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.

Joeten crushed Docomo Pacific, 80-60, to improve its record to 5-3, while Saipan Ice notched its second victory in six games after an 83-65 decision over Saipan Stevedore. Docomo dropped to 1-6, while Saipan Stevedore suffered its sixth loss in eight games.

Joeten led from the start and was never threatened after that. They entered the halftime break enjoying a 46-27 edge with the lead ballooning to 34 points, 68-34, after holding Docomo to a season-low 7 markers in the third.

Dixon Kwon scattered 18 points to lead five other Joeten players that turned in double figures.

Alex Lauron and Rocyl Ritual scored 12 points each, while Y.J. Nakayama, Jun Sambile, and Syl Teregeyo chipped in 10 apiece.

Lauron and Teregeyo also grabbed 10 rebounds each with the latter collecting five steals for his defensive efforts. Ferdie Tobias only scored 2 points but collared 8 boards.

Tony Diaz paced Docomo’s losing cause with 21 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals, and an assist with Robert Sanciangco being the only other player that reached twin digits with 18 markers.

It was the same story in the second game with Saipan Ice pulling away early before coasting to an 83-65 triumph.

Patrick Rotap scored 19 of his team’s 25 first quarter points where Saipan Ice erected a 25-12 advantage. All five Saipan Ice players scored with Joel Fernandez and Ben Olopai having 2 apiece.

Rotap fired 8 3-pointers to finish with a season-high 46 points to lead all scorers. John Santy added 19 markers, 11 rebounds, and 5 steals, while Treat Kaipat also had 5 steals to go along with his 14 points.

Only four players scored for Saipan Stevedore with Ronald Colomia ending up with 27 and 11 rebounds, while Mike Olaitiman tallied 20 and 5 assists. Nathan Kapileo had an all-around game with 13 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists.

John Acosta had 5 markers, 9 boards, and issued 3 feeds also for Saipan Stevedore.

First Game
