Jin Air commences summer charters to Marianas
Jin Air launched the first of 23 summer charter flights from Tokyo, Japan, to the Marianas on Aug. 1, 2018.
The flights depart daily from Narita International Airport at 10:15am and arrive at the Francisco C. Ada/Saipan International Airport at 3pm.
All passengers aboard the inaugural flight were greeted with shell leis from the Marianas Visitors Authority, presented by young Chamorittas dressed in traditional clothes.
“We’re very happy to have Jin Air operating over 30 charter flights to the Marianas this summer,” said acting MVA managing director Judy Torres. “The Japan market is still an important part of the MVA’s market diversification strategy, and we are looking forward to the recovery of this market in coming months.
The MVA welcomed travel agents from JTB and H.I.S. aboard the flight at an official welcoming dinner at Hyatt Regency Saipan.
The MVA is expecting nearly 30 charter flights from Japan this summer, beginning a flight from Nagoya on July 13 by Jeju Air. In addition to Jin Air’s anticipated 23 flights, Asiana Airlines will have flights from Narita on Aug. 5, 9, 13, 17, and 21. The combined total available air seats on the flights is over 5,700, a welcome boost following the cancellation of regular daily flights from Narita in May 2018.
The Marianas is also anticipating Skymark Airlines to begin daily flights from Tokyo in winter 2018. (MVA)
