More than a coffee place, Java Joe’s in Dandan has again expanded their already eclectic menu with a slew of new food offerings.
Owner Manju Pandey said Java Joe’s recently added pizza, butter chicken, curry, loco moco, and lamb burgers to their menu.
“We introduced these new items to give different options for our customers to choose from. We would like to add more very soon. There are days that business has been slow but adding new items like these help us give our customers a reason to go to Java Joe’s,” she said.
So far so good, as their regulars have seemed to have taken a liking to their butter chicken, loco moco, and the curry dishes the most.
The butter chicken is simply marinated baked chicken that’s been cooked in a creamy tomato-onion gravy. It’s usually served with jasmine rice or naan bread (butter or plain).
The loco moco is made from either beef or lamb patty and is strategically placed on top of steaming white rice. It comes with sunny side up egg and smothered with rich brown mushroom sauce.
And honoring Pandey’s native Nepal, Java Joe’s curry dishes come in chicken, beef, lamb, fish, or shrimp varieties all cooked in tomato, onion, and other spices. Like the butter chicken, the curry is served with jasmine rice or butter or plain naan bread.
“All have received very good compliments from our customers and we gained new regular customers after learning that we offer these items,” she said.
Knowing too well that everyone’s tolerance for spicy dishes vary, all of Java Joe’s dishes can be served spicy, not spicy, or mild.
So far, Pandey said Java Joe’s has bitten the bullet and hasn’t changed their menu prices even as the cost of ingredients, fuel, and utilities have risen.
“For now we are just shouldering the rise of the cost of ingredients, fuel, and power. We would like our customers to go here regularly even if the economy is difficult. We don’t want to raise our prices for now. When business gets better, hopefully we can adjust as well,” she said.
