Jang Gun Restaurant re-opens; offers discounted items

One of the top Korean restaurants on Saipan is offering discounts for take-out to help residents cope with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Jang Gun Restaurant re-opened last week, albeit for take-out only and, as a service to its loyal customers, three items on its take-out menu will have a discount of 15%.
Chief executive officer Chan Seck Hong said the three items that are currently 15% off are their bestsellers—fried chicken, seasoned chicken, and soy chicken bento meals. All three come with a side order of rice.
“It’s our own small way of thanking our customers for their loyalty,” he said.
Aside from the three, Jang Gun Restaurant’s take-out menu, which ranges from $4 to $6, included bulgogi with rice, squid with rice, pork with rice, and mackerel with rice, miso soup, and fried egg.
Before the COVID-19 pandemic reached Saipan’s shores, the restaurant had one of the island’s best-value-for-your-buck Korean lunch buffets.
Aside from its famous home-made kimchi, Jang Gun Restaurant’s smorgasbord includes more than four meat dishes like deji bulgogi, barbecue ribs, and pork curry and restaurant staples like fish roe, jajangmyeon, spicy squid, fried chicken, Korean pancakes, and kimchi fried rice. On occasion it also served Korean versions of spaghetti, pancit (stir-fried noodles), and lumpia. The buffet also included desserts— fruit salad and fresh fruits—as well as miso and corn soup, and iced tea.
Jang Gun Restaurant, which literally means general in Korean, has been one of the top-ranked Korean restaurants on Saipan in the past 15 years. It is located along Coral Tree Avenue in front of Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan and is open daily from 12pm to 6pm for take-out orders.
