It’s about trust and confidence

Hafa adai to the people of the Commonwealth and to all registered voters. Last Saturday, March 24, many midterm political gathering kicked off. Soon, we would be seeing candidates’ posters in billboard signs along the roadside. Also, we would see political stickers on vehicles, pocket meetings, and campaigns village to village. Candidates would be visiting homes to ask for your vote of confidence. There are two comments in my mind that I would like to address out to the public.

First, perhaps our Commission on Elections would implement rules and regulation in regards to a candidate willing to be elected to public office. For example, if I want to be a candidate for public office then I have to submit my political platform in writing to the commission for record and file purpose. If I succeed to be in office, then it behooves me under the commission’s rules and regulations to do at least 60 percent of my political agenda that I promised the voting public. In case I fail the 60 percent, then I am not in entitled to seek re-election. The voting public is already tired of hearing empty verbal promises made in front of a podium where a candidate holds a microphone and talks. All recorded records speak for themselves. Too much talk and no action is a common problem in the Commonwealth.

The second comment is that I would like to ask our leaders to implement a law in regards to appointees. For example, if the governor wants to appoint John Doe to be a director of the Department of Corruption, then the law should require a background check from top to bottom, including financial issues. It’s not bad also to have a law that punishes anyone who is found lying or making false statements in court, lying to voters, and lying to a Senate committee.

Lastly, as a voter I suggest we vote for our DPS commissioner.
