As part of its continuing efforts to enhance the CNMI’s telecommunications infrastructure and provide constantly improving service to its customers, IT&E announced yesterday that it is working on a plan to expand the capacity of the microwave system that is used to back up its undersea cable. Both this cable and the microwave radio system serve the islands of Saipan, Tinian, Rota, and Guam.

In the unlikely event of a disruption of service on the undersea cable, this expanded microwave system could provide full restoration of services to government agencies, emergency and public safety organizations, financial institutions, and enterprise customers.

IT&E anticipates the announcement of additional projects and initiatives in the coming months that will add more value to the service its customers currently receive in Guam and throughout the CNMI.
