IT&E has joined the list of growing title sponsors for this year’s Liberation Day festivities.

IT&E presented a $5,0000 cash donation to Saipan Mayor David Apatang, 2018 Liberation Day Committee chair Joe Ayuyu, and members of the committee on June 8, 2018.

“Liberation Day is a special time for us here in the Marianas to come together and celebrate the resiliency of our people and our culture. This is an event we support every year, and we’re proud do our part for another year of fun and memorable festivities for our community,” said Jim Oehlerking, chief executive officer of IT&E.

The last day for floats and marching units to register for this year’s Liberation Day parade is June 15.

Applications are available at www.saipanmayor.net and must be submitted to applicable fees to the Office of the Mayor before 4:30pm on Friday.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the best floats: $4,000 for first place, $3,000 for second place, $2,000 for third place, and $1,000 for fourth place.

Marching units, villages, government agencies, non-profit organizations, businesses, and school are welcome to apply.

The parade will be held at 3pm on July 4, 2018, from National Office to the Liberation Day festival grounds at Garapan Fishing Base.

Parade sequence will be announced at the mandatory safety briefing on June 28 at the Office of the Mayor of Saipan.

The Liberation Day festivities will be held at Garapan Fishing Base from June 29-July 7, 2018, from 6pm to 10pm (closing at 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays).

The celebration will include food and drink sales, live entertainment, games, arts and craft sales, and more. This year’s Liberation Day theme is “Sea to Shining Sea,” celebrating the International Year of the Coral Reef and the islands’ oceanic heritage and cultures. (PR)
