(Clarissa V. David) Telecommunications company IT&E on Wednesday donated $5,000 worth of educational tax credit to the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library.

IT&E officials led by regional controller Rose Soledad, marketing manager Hans Mickelson, and marketing coordinator Brad Ruszala presented the check to library executive director John Oliver Gonzales, immediately after sister company IP&E launched its enhanced electronic loyalty program at Aqua Resort Club’s Rey Lounge.

This marks the second year that IT&E donated tax dollars to the Commonwealth’s state public library, according to Ruszala.

He noted that they receive requests for assistance from various institutions on island, including schools and individual clubs and it is “difficult” for them to choose which one to help.

He said IT&E decided on Joeten-Kiyu Public Library since helping the library “would help everybody.”

“It does so much for the community and that’s one way that we can affect everybody instead of just giving it to one school or one institution. Helping the library helps the community at whole,” said Ruszala as he also commended the library executive director for “doing a lot of great work.”

Gonzales said the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library is “eternally grateful” for IT&E’s donation.

“It will have a more pronounced impact in terms of transforming that into value benefits for our community, especially acquiring new collections to replace damaged or lost collections so that we can continue to provide and open doors of literacy to those that need it the most and those who truly need to learn how to read and to these life-long literate members of the community,” he told Saipan Tribune.
