IT&E earned its widest winning margin so far in the Atkins Kroll Marianas International Basketball League following a 105-65 rout of Aqua Resort Club last Saturday at the Marianas High School Gymnasium.

The 40-point victory also gave IT&E its fourth triumph in as many matches, putting the team in a tie for first place in the standings with Saipan Vegas. IT&E’s three other wins were against MS Villagomez (88-54), Caravan’s (77-52), and Bridge Capital, LLC (92-83).

IT&E set up its third lopsided triumph after pulling away in the second quarter, which started with the squad ahead by only 6, 25-19. The lead ballooned to 18 at the break, 51-33, with Sean Rabasto, Elmer Esdrelon, and Jaymark De Guzman teaming up in the breakaway. Rabasto scored 8 points, while Esdrelon and De Guzman combined for 10.

De Guzman, who finished with 8 points in the first half, surpassed that output in the third quarter alone after firing 14 markers to pad IT&E’s lead to 35, 83-48.

The former Saipan Southern High School standout was then held scoreless in the final period, but that did not matter, as Errol Peredo, Paolo Rafols, and Darwin Barbo finished off Aqua Resort Club to secure the huge winning margin.

Aqua Resort fell way behind IT&E, as it had no player making more than two field goals in each of the first three periods and only Kristian Itaas scored three baskets in the final canto.
De Guzman paced IT&E with his 24 points, while Peredo and Rafols had a double-double, recording 20 points and 17 rebounds and 14 points and 18 rebounds, respectively.

Itaas led Aqua with his 14 markers.

IT&E 105—De Guzman 24, Peredo 20, Rabasto 15, Rafols 12, Barbo 11, Esdrelon 11, Demapan 8, Talania 2.
Aqua Resort Club 65—Itaas 14, Deleon Guerrero 12, Arellano 10, Mendiola 9, Salazar 6, Maratita 6, David 4, Secharmidal 2, Telan 2.
Scoring by quarters: 25-19, 51-33, 83-48, 105-65
