IT&E Amari’s Homeboyz tops Thursday League

The IT&E Amari’s Homeboyz had a strong finish in its title showdown against 9 Eleven 8 Black Ball to rule the Saipan Billiards Association Budweiser Open 8-Ball Thursday League last week.
Down at 5-7, the IT&E Amari’s Homeboyz swept the last four singles matches to grab the upper hand and clinch the division championship. Nolan Cultura started the streak for the IT&E Amari’s Homeboyz after beating Mervin Sahagun, while Roman Rodriguez, Gian Flores, and Cesar Sangalang also won over Tata Hamoy, Jeff Gayas, and Rey Hermogenes, respectively, to hand their team the come-from-behind victory. Jeff Garcia also suited up for the newly-crowned champions and teamed up with Rodriguez in giving the IT&E Amari’s Homeboyz one of the two wins in the partners play.
The IT&E Amari’s Homeboyz, which finished only third after the regular season and had a 209-155 record, marched into the finals after downing the 9 Eleven MJD Warriors in the semifinals. 9 Eleven 8 Black Ball, on the other hand, was the top finisher in the elimination following its 225-139 slate and moved into the title match after ousting Brannon’s Jam Shooters.
The 9 Eleven MJD Warriors was ranked second in the regular season with its 210-145 mark, while Brannon’s Jam Shooters had a 206-158 record to earn the No. 4 seed. Brannon’s Jam Shooters went on to round out the Top 3 after a 9-6 victory over the 9 Eleven MJD Warriors in the consolation match.
