IT&E: Prepaid fully operational; normal charges begin Thursday

Share

IT&E said yesterday that both its GSM and CDMA prepaid networks are now fully operational.

Since the current network communications crisis began, IT&E has provided prepaid users with free local calls and SMS on the GSM and CDMA networks.

With the return of these networks, IT&E said that normal charges for prepaid usage would resume as of 8am Thursday, July 23.

IT&E prepaid subscribers that had prior load on their account when the network outage occurred will still have that load now that the networks are operational.

IT&E on Monday said the ship set to fix its damaged undersea fiber optic cable between Tinian and Saipan would arrive on Thursday, July 23, instead of today, due to high seas and storm in the northwest of the CNMI.

Depending on the initial investigation, identifying the “break” location, and the type of break, IT&E expects a potential 48-hour repair timeline.

Last Friday, IT&E restored the CNMI’s 4G network under limited capacity. (Dennis B. Chan)
