- SEARCH AND RESCUE EXERCISE The Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services conducts an unannounced exercise for the Search and Rescue Unit at Suicide Cliff on July 30, 2015. The exercise was to test their activation, readiness, endurance, response time, as well as how the team conducts their mission as a unit. There are a total of 10 firefighters in the Search and Rescue unit. The teams mission was to meet at the summit of Suicide Cliff and every man on the unit must rappel down roughly 820 feet above sea level. Once the entire unit had reached the bottom, they had to hike with all their rescue equipment out of the jungle and back up the summit. The total exercise lasted 3.5 hours. (Contributed Photo)

- JUDICIAL PRESENTATION Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph Camacho was invited by Rota Department of Public Safety to give a presentation on search and seizure on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015. The presentation was held at the Rota Courthouse. In attendance were Rota DPS as well as Rota custom officers. Camacho also conducted the same presentation at Saipan DPS three weeks ago. - EMS & FIRE PREVENTION MONTH PRESENTATION In observance of EMS and Fire Prevention Month, the CNMI Fire Department treated Mount Carmel School’s 1st to 5th grade students to a very entertaining presentation that featured vehicle demonstrations, simulations with the department’s equipment, and a guest appearance from Sparky, the department’s safety awareness mascot. Students were both educated and entertained as they learned about the many ways the department works to keep them safe in emergencies. (Contributed Photo)
