- DROPOFF POINT Docomo Pacific is an official 2021 “Toys for Tots” partner this holiday season. Community members who would like to donate toys to the “Toys for Tots” program can drop off their donation at Docomo Pacific. The “Toys for Tots” program is a charitable initiative hosted by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve that provides toys to disadvantaged children during the Christmas holiday season. The program is spearheaded by the Associated Students of Northern Marianas College and the Saipan Chamber of Commerce. - ‘WE GOT SHOT!’-From left, Cherlotte and Francis Figueroa, Cali Cabrera, Gabriel Rapanut and Kalyster Peredo, and Miko Gabriel Delgado proudly display their bandages after receiving their first shot of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center. The Commonwealth Healthcare Corp., with guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration, is now offering the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine to ages 5 to 11 year olds, starting last Nov. 6, 2021. The Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center is open Monday to Saturday, 8am to 4pm to administer COVID-19 vaccines to persons aged 5 and older. Register online at www.vaccinatecnmi.com, walk in, or call (670) 682-SHOT (7468). Free rides are available to and from your COVID-19 vaccination appointment. Parent consent forms are required for minors who are unaccompanied by a parent or legal guardian, and are available at www.vaccinatecnmi.com. It is requested that a valid government-issued ID or birth certificate be presented at the time of registration. - HALLOWEEN NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM Gov. Ralph DLG Torres and Sen. Vinnie Vinson F. Sablan, together with family members, pose for a group photo during a Halloween event “No Tricks, Just Treats” at the NMI Museum of History and Culture grounds in Garapan last Oct. 31. Children received candies and treats from participating governmental organizations, agencies, and businesses at the newly built huts on the museum grounds. - COVID TESTING-Drone footage taken in Marpi yesterday shows people in cars lining up for COVID-19 testing at the former Mariana Resort & Spa. According to the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp., it will happen again this Wednesday at the former Mariana Resort & Spa from noon to 3pm. - EMERGENCY TRANSPORT Two U.S. Navy helicopters land at the Commonwealth Health Center yesterday afternoon between 1:10pm and 1:45pm. CHCC said it was an emergency transfer coordinated between CHCC Public Health and Hospital Emergency Preparedness Program, the CNMI Homeland Security and Emergency Management, and U.S. Coast Guard Sector Guam. - APPRENTICESHIP WEEK Gov. Ralph DLG Torres, seated second from right, holds up the proclamation he signed last Nov. 15, 2021, that designates Nov. 15 to 19 National Apprenticeship Week in the CNMI. The proclamation comes as the CNMI Department of Labor, NMC, the Northern Marianas Technical Institute, and the CNMI Public School System are in the process of creating an apprenticeship program that will build a highly-skilled and diverse workforce in the CNMI. Torres was joined at the proclamation signing at the Office of the Governor’s conference room by acting Education commissioner Eric Magofna of the Public School System, Northern Marianas Technical Institute chief executive officer Jodina Attao, Northern Marianas College president Dr. Galvin Deleon Guerrero, NMC Board of Regents chair Charles Cepeda, and NMTI trustees, among others.
