- TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK Teachers at the Admiral Herbert G. Hopwood Middle School extend a happy Teacher Appreciation Week to all teachers in the CNMI, as the nation marks Teacher Appreciation Week on May 4-8, 2020. The U.S. Congress declared National Teacher Day on March 7, 1980. Five years later, the National PTA established Teacher Appreciation Week during the first full week of May. Since then, families around the nation and the CNMI have been showing their appreciation to teachers. This year, the Public School System has plans throughout the week and invite students and families to show their love and appreciation. (Contributed Photo)

- NEARLY DONE-Construction work on the new U.S. federal courthouse building in Gualo Rai appears to be nearly done. Once completed, it will house the U.S. District Court of the Northern Mariana Islands, a U.S. Probation Office, the U.S. Marshals Service, the U.S. Attorney’s Office and the Federal Protective Service. The courthouse will include one courtroom, two judges’ chambers, a jury assembly room and office space for building tenants. There is no word yet on when the project will be finished.
