- CORRECTIONS ACADEMY-Former Northern Marianas College interim president Frankie M. Eliptico, acting governor Arnold I. Palacios, and Department of Corrections Commissioner Wally F. Villagomez are joined by members of the NMC Board of Regents and DOC personnel after the signing of a memorandum of agreement between NMC and DOC at the college’s Board of Regents conference room Wednesday last week for a joint operation between the two institutions to run a Corrections Academy at the college for DOC cadets. - FREEDOM SUMMER CAMP-The Guam National Guard’s Camp Freedom summer camp made a comeback after three years off, at the University of Guam Division of Agriculture and Life Sciences Building Mangilao, Guam, July 2023. Over 80 children of Guam Guard soldiers and airmen spent two weeks in the camp, where they learned about fishery, biology, wildlife, energy conservation, arts and crafts, navigation, ice cream making, finance and budgeting, and just old-fashioned outdoor play with friends. “After going through COVID-19 and a Typhoon, it was great to get this program back up and engage the kids and get them socializing again,” said Lt. Col. Marleen Tarusan-Legaspi of the GUNG Family Programs Office. “It was great to see their smiles again.” (GUAM NATIONAL GUARD)
