Rommel Isidro made it to the podium three times during the Saipan Radio Control Racers September event held last Sunday in As Lito.
Isidro took the checkered flag in the Electric 1/10 Short Course Open Class race ahead of runner-up Jude Dickinson and Leo Gatus. Top qualifier Paul Guerrero fell short of making it to the Top 3 in the final heat. All four drivers used TraXXas Slash cars.
Dickinson took the pole in the Electric 1/10 Short Course Stock event, but in the end settled for another silver finish, this time behind Paul Salalila’s Kyosho SC-R Ultima, while Isidro claimed the third spot.
Rodney Catalla’s Team Associated RT-8T finished first in the Nitro 1/8 Truggy Class race, ahead of Isidro’s Mugen MBX5T, while Emir Abuan’s Kyosho STRR beat top qualifier Jojo Saracho for third place. Saracho drove a Mugen MBX6T.
There are over 20 active SRCR members, and growing, and they regularly take part in practices at the As Lito track every Saturday from 2pm to 6pm.
The group tries to hold a daylong race, once a month, usually on Sundays from 9am to 5pm and hosts events in three classes. The open class, intended for novice drivers, was added as a result of additional turnout. The public is welcome to check out the track to learn more about their sport/hobby.
