IRP, FEMA interagency group to hold Public Assistance Training

The CNMI Office of the Governor’s Infrastructure and Recovery Program and the FEMA Interagency Recovery Coordination, under the FEMA Joint Recovery Office, will be holding their third training under their Joint Training Initiative to increase local capacity This training will cover Public Assistance in coordination with the Governor’s Authorized Representative and both the local and FEMA Public Assistance Offices. 

The training sessions will include an introduction to public assistance, as well as overviews of Category A (Debris Removal), Category B (Emergency Protective Measures), and Category Z (Management Cost), procurement procedures, Environmental and Historic Preservation and mitigation, alternate and improved projects, and utilizing the Grants Portal. Targeted audiences for the training are Public Assistance Sub-Recipients and Applicants for Public Assistance (government and non-government organizations). 

The Public Assistance Training, which will take place at the Pacific Islands Club, will be conducted on the following dates and registration is required. 

●      April 27-28, 2022
●      May 2-3, 2022
●      May 4-5, 2022 
Two FEMA trainers will arrive on Saipan to facilitate the training: Tom Matalino Jr. and Nanette Alo. They will be joined virtually by Procurement Disaster Assistance Team program specialists Chris Simone and John Griego. 

Public Assistance Office staff, public assistance subrecipients, and applicants for public assistance are encouraged to attend this training. Certificates of attendance will be provided upon completion of this training. Contact info@pa.gov.mp to register.
