IPI tightens lawful employment enforcement at Garapan site
Individuals unauthorized to work cannot enter the multimillion-dollar Garapan casino-resort construction site with this latest move of Imperial Pacific International to further tighten its worksite enforcement in protecting employment opportunities for lawful workforce.
This development further affirms the commitment of Hong Kong-based investment giant to strictly enforce its well placed company policies, and implement measures that strengthen its compliance with local and federal laws and regulations that promotes fair and legal labor and immigration practices.
Last May 1, Imperial Pacific’s security department implemented control over the construction site’s security, tapping the services of IPS or Island Protection Services.
IPS is a Saipan-based security company. It was tapped to carry out the external security of the casino-resort construction project site.
Security within the Garapan construction project had previously been handled and managed by MCC International Saipan Ltd. Co., the main construction contractor.
For nearly two months now, the largest private sector employer in the Marianas has implemented standard operating procedures and guidelines together with the new security company, to ensure that all of Imperial Pacific workers, including the security contractors themselves, are lawfully employed.
And to further strengthen its own enforcement, Imperial Pacific also conducts regular random security checks on both its workers and that of the security company to ensure compliance.
Workers including contractors entering said premises are strictly required to show proper identification, among other security measures that were put in place.
Regular bi-weekly meetings are also held, as part of its constant work at reviewing its operating procedures.
“As a law-abiding corporate citizen, Imperial Pacific will continue to strictly follow appropriate local and federal statutes that promotes lawful employment,” Imperial Pacific said. (PR)
