An allegedly intoxicated man repeatedly fired guns on Rota early Sunday morning, with the bullets hitting his own house in in Sinapalo 3.

Nicolas A. Songsong, 44, was arrested on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, unlawful discharge of a firearm, possession or use of weapon while under the influence of alcohol, and disturbing the peace.

At a hearing yesterday, Superior Court Associate Judge Wesley Bogdan imposed a $100,000 cash bail on Songsong; preliminary hearing will be on Jan. 30.

Police detective Ben H. Atalig stated in his report that the central dispatch of the Rota Department of Public Safety received a call last Sunday at 2:51am, from a woman who sought the police help about gunshots at Songsong’s house in Sinapalo 3.

Upon arrival, the police officers noticed a gray pickup truck leaving the area. As the officers approached the house, a woman who identified herself as the complainant, told the officers that Songsong shot the house then drove off the truck.

The report did not indicate the relationship between Songsong and the complainant.

At 5:12am that same day, two police officers came upon a shirtless Songsong outside of his home. Atalig said that Songsong walked in an aggressive manner toward the two officers and was argumentative and uncooperative. The officers subdued Songsong, who allegedly resisted.

Atalig said police investigation showed that at least two adults and one minor were inside the house when Songsong fired the guns inside.

Atalig said investigators learned that prior to the incident, Songsong was already extremely intoxicated and belligerent during a family gathering. When Songsong and the complainant arrived home, he was seen carrying a number of firearms out of his house. The complainant told police that she was inside the bedroom of their house when she heard the noise of multiple gunshots. The complainant said she was afraid to look outside until the gunshots had stopped.

The complainant said she then saw Songsong holding a rifle-type firearm and entering the driver’s seat of a gray truck.

That’s when the police officers arrived.

Atalig said investigators recovered multiple shell casings from a 12-gauge shotgun, a .410 shotgun, and a .30 caliber firearm in front of Songsong’s house.

Investigators also observed damage to a glass above a kitchen door and damage to a wall inside the house from what appeared to be from a shotgun-type bullet.

Investigators were able to locate a break- type shotgun in a grassy area across the street from Songsong’s house.

Investigators located Songsong’s truck at his parents’ house.

The truck was brought to DPS Central for an inventory, where investigators discovered multiple ammunitions similar to that found at the scene.
