For refusing to give him money an intoxicated man allegedly beat up his wife and struck her with a piece of wood and empty wine bottle at their residence in San Antonio last week.

The alleged victim looked very frightened and sustained multiple bruises on the body, bump on the head, and her right hand was bleeding when a responding police officer met her, according to a police detective.

Andrew Albert Sablan Indalecio, 52, was arrested for assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, disturbing the peace, and criminal mischief.

At a hearing on Friday, Superior Court Associate Judge Theresa Kim-Tenorio imposed a $6,500 cash bail for Indalecio’s temporary release.

Preliminary hearing will be on Friday at 9am.

Police Detective Maverick M. Saures stated in his report that last Dec. 30 at 8:01pm, Department of Public Safety Central received a call from a woman, reporting that her husband Indalecio was drunk and beat her up.

Saures said a responding police officer met the alleged victim, who was walking along the shoulder of the roadway toward San Antonio Market.

According to the alleged victim, when she and Indalecio came home after buying food at a store, he asked for money.

She told him that she does not have money anymore because they already spent it on food. When he insisted for money, she asked why he needs money.

Indalecio allegedly started cussing at her so she ran into the restroom and locked the door. The defendant, however, broke the door and started punching and kicking her on the arms and left leg.

Indalecio took a stick from parts of a wooden door and started hitting her with it on her arms and shoulder.

The defendant allegedly grabbed an empty wine bottle and struck it on her head. As he was picking up the broken bottle, she ran out to use the phone to call for police’s help.

When Indalecio found out she was calling the police, he told her he was going to divorce her and that he would run away from the house.

A doctor at the Commonwealth Health Center advised the alleged victim to return to the hospital the next day for an X-ray of her injuries, police said.
