Interior’s Zinke to visit NMI

Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke will be making his first visit to the CNMI when he arrives tomorrow with Gov. Ralph DLG Torres.

Zinke, who previously served as Montana’s at-large district in the U.S. House of Representatives, will be arriving Thursday afternoon with Torres.

They are expected to land at the Francisco C. Ada/Saipan International Airport at 4pm.

Zinke will be leading a federal delegation that will include Office of Insular Affairs assistant secretary Douglas Domenech, OIA director Nik Pula, and other White House officials.

He could be the highest member of the Trump Cabinet that will be making a visit in the CNMI. Last month, Department of Defense Deputy Assistant Secretary Allison Sands visited Tinian in relation to the planned Tinian divert operations.

It is not yet known what would be the nature of Zinke’s visit.
