The Northern Marianas Insurance Association donated to NMI Crime Stoppers on Friday, April 11, at the Department of Public Safety’s Central Office, in support of the NMICS 2014 Annual Crime Stoppers Soft Pitch Softball Tournament slated for May 23-25 at the Capitol Hill softball field.

During the donation turnover, association vice president Shirley Sablan thanked the NMI Crime Stoppers for providing a medium for members of the community to report crimes.

“We are truly grateful to the NMI Crime Stoppers and its volunteers for helping to reduce crime in the CNMI,” said Sablan. “Members of the NMIA will always support your cause.”

NMI Crime Stoppers chair Brian Clayton received the donation on behalf of his organization.

The NMI Crime Stoppers a non-profit organization that aims to reduce the number of crimes in the CNMI by providing the community with a truly anonymous way to help law enforcement locate and arrest criminals. Throughout the years, the NMI Crime Stoppers has provided tips to the Department of Public Safety that led to 248 arrests and the recovery of over $270,000 in property and over $2.6 million in seized drugs.

The non-profit organization is currently seeking the assistance of the community to ensure the success of the tournament. A $1,500 donation entitles a fully paid entrance of a team of your choice, a display of a banner during the tournament, and advertising exposure on MCV’s Channel 41.

Members of the NMIA include Pacific Indemnity Insurance represented by president Pete Schilling; Tokio Marine Pacific Insurance Limited represented by Sablan; National Union, American Homes, and New Hampshire Insurance Company represented by secretary Eli Buenaventura; Century Insurance represented by treasurer Gol Corpuz; Aioi Insurance represented by community relations chair Suzi Perez; Dongbu and First Net Insurance represented by director Cathy Tenorio; and Equitable Insurance represented by Terry Guerrero.
