Inos: Volunteer with Red Cross

Lt. Gov. Eloy S. Inos is urging the community to support and volunteer with the American Red Cross-NMI Chapter which he said has played a major role in helping people in their times of need.
“I urge members of the community to work with Red Cross and contribute your time,” he said. “It’s a worthy cause.”
Inos said this when he signed yesterday morning a proclamation declaring March 2012 American Red Cross Month.
American Red Cross-NMI Chapter executive director John Hirsh and other Red Cross volunteers witnessed the proclamation signing.
Hirsh also recognized Juan Lizama’s nine-year volunteerism with the Red Cross as a board member. After three three-year term, a board member has to step off the board for two years.
The Red Cross is not a government agency and relies on donations of time, money, and blood to do its work.
“During American Red Cross Month, we thank those who contribute to the mission of the Red Cross here in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, whether through donations of volunteer service, financial assistance or Chapter leadership and we invite others to support the Red Cross in helping people in need down the street, across the country and around the world,” Inos said in his proclamation.
The NMI Chapter has a number of activities planned for Red Cross Month, including a super CPR Saturday, disaster preparedness training, and the 26th annual Walkathon on March 24 starting at the 4-H Building in Susupe at 6am.
