Inos-Torres gains commanding lead in runoff race

With a commanding lead of 1,599 votes, the tandem of Gov. Eloy S. Inos-Ralph Torres is a sure winner over Heinz Hofschneider-Ray Yumul team during Friday’s gubernatorial runoff race, based on the unofficial results by the Commonwealth Election Commission.

As there are only about 2,000-plus absentee ballots to be counted on Dec. 5, it is nearly impossible for Hofschneider-Yumul to overtake Inos-Torres’ big lead.

CEC’s unofficial tabulation results show that Inos-Torres garnered a total of 6,547 votes, while Hofschneider-Yumul got 4,948, or a 1,599 difference.

Inos-Torres won almost all precincts on Saipan and prevailed on Tinian and Rota, as well as on early voting. Hofschneider-Yumul won only in San Jose, Garapan, and San Roque.

More details to follow.
