“The law enforcement agencies of the CNMI work tirelessly to protect our citizens, enforce our laws, and keep our neighborhoods safe. They report for duty knowing full well the dangers they face and sacrifices they may be called upon to make,” Inos said. “We gather here once a year, to express our gratitude to the many of you facing the challenges of apprehending crime.”

The governor said he personally wants to acknowledge and thank the efforts of the police force.

“Thank you for being out there, I sleep good at night these days, because I know you are out there protecting our community,” Inos said.

As part of the proclamation, May 10 to May 16 was also designated as “CNMI Police Week” and May 15, 2015, as “Peace Officers Memorial Day.”

As part of the government’s safety campaign, May 18 to May 31 was designated as “Click It or Ticket Mobilization” in the CNMI to urge all citizens to wear seatbelts when driving or riding on roadways. Further, May 16 to May 22 was designated as “CNMI Safe Boating Week.”
