Gov. Eloy S. Inos last week signed a bill appropriating $387,000 collected from poker licenses and fees for various uses as designated by the Saipan and Northern Islands Legislative Delegation.

With the governor’s signature, House Local Bill 18-64, D1, is now Saipan Local Law 18-23 and among the beneficiaries is the non-profit organization Ayuda Network, which will be getting $18,000 from the appropriation.

The law also gives $75,000 for the construction of Fitme Place road on Navy Hill, Saipan and for the inner road construction from the Garapan Fishing Base north to the Children’s Park area by the Carolinian Affairs Office.

The CNMI Farmer’s Cooperative Association also receives $60,000 as “seed money” for the Garapan Public Market, which it runs.

SLL 18-23 also sets aside funds for the following:

• $32,000 for field operations equipment of the Office of the Mayor of Saipan;
• $30,000 for the Public School System to procure school buses;
• $34,000 for the repair and maintenance of the basketball court & social hall in Precinct II;
• $34,000 to construct bus shelters and road bumps in Precinct V;
• $34,000 to renovate the Health Center in Precinct IV; and
• $70,000 for various projects in Precinct 1.

HLB 18-64 passed the SNILD unanimously last Dec. 4, 2014. Tebuteb and House Speaker Joseph P. Deleon Guerrero certified it.
