Lt. Gov. Eloy S. Inos, when he was acting governor on Wednesday, nominated two individuals to serve on the Public Utilities Commission, which only has one commissioner at the moment.

Inos nominated Joseph C. Guerrero to serve as a PUC commission representing Saipan, and Zenie P. Mafnas to represent Tinian.

Guerrero and Mafnas’s appointments require the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Representatives.

If confirmed, each will serve a four-year term which expires on Feb. 25, 2016.

Inos, in separate letters to Senate President Paul Manglona (Ind-Rota) and House Speaker Eli Cabrera (R-Saipan), said Guerrero and Mafnas are highly qualified to fulfill the vital responsibilities of the commission.

The two nominees are required to immediately file a statement of financial interest with the Office of the Public Auditor, police clearance, drug test receipt and drug test result to the Office of the Governor for submission to the Legislature.
