Lt. Gov. Eloy S. Inos left Monday morning for Japan to attend tourism events.

Press secretary Angel Demapan said yesterday that Inos is attending the Mariana Seminar in Nagoya, where Japan’s major travel agents were updated about the Northern Marianas destination, and the annual Japan-Marianas Tourism Council meeting in Tokyo.

“During these challenging times in the CNMI, it is important not only to show support for our sole economic industry, but to meet with our partners and understand their concerns and assist to revive our tourism industry,” Demapan said.

Inos is accompanied by Marianas Visitors Authority managing director Perry Tenorio.

Last year during the same events in Japan, Inos discussed how the CNMI government and the federal government were collectively working together to address public concern surrounding the potential impact of Japan’s nuclear reactor crisis in the wake of the quake and tsunami in March 2011.
