Inos back at work; yet to decide on Cabinet posts
Gov. Eloy S. Inos has reported back to work and is still in the process of determining key Cabinet positions.
“The governor reported back to work sometime last week, and also today,” Ivan Blanco, spokesperson for Inos, said.
Blanco said the governor “is conducting meetings with other officials” and is set to decide on the Cabinet “soon.”
The islands’ chief executive also has yet to name appointees to the Department Community and Cultural Affairs and Department of Public Lands, and has yet to decide on the boards of key government agencies, including the Joeten Kiyu Public Library.
The administration has already appointed Mark Rabauliman to head the Department of Commerce, Richard Seman as secretary of the Department of Lands and Natural Resources, and James Ada as Department of Public Works secretary.
Blanco said Inos is set to preside over a proclamation signing on March 2. The proclamation involved declaring March as “Development Disabilities Awareness Month.”
Blanco added that Inos is “expected to be there” and will answer questions from the press.
If indeed the governor shows up at the March 2 event, that will be the first time Inos will be visible to the general public for several weeks since being confined at the Commonwealth Health Center.
On Feb. 4, Inos finally broke his silence on his noticeable absence from public view with a statement saying he is “okay.”
His absence in the last few weeks due to medical concerns has triggered questions and speculations. Inos was last seen in public on Jan. 12, 2015, during the inauguration of the new administration.
“Over the last few days, there have been many questions concerning my well-being. It is only fitting that I let you know what is going on,” Inos said in the statement.
According to Inos, he has been “interned at the Commonwealth Health Center for what the doctors were calling symptoms of pneumonia.”
The governor, according to aides, has been doing official work while in recovery.
