Indigenous people need help with foreclosed homes

Share

I’m writing this letter to our elected officials concerning some government agencies to revisit its laws and regulations pertaining to the rights of the indigenous people. A good example: MPLT. A lot of indigenous people’s houses are being foreclosed to various reasons. It is so sad to hear this matter. It’s an alarming news because it sounds like MPLT is a money-making agency and it’s not. The board is monopolizing politically each case that comes on their board meeting. The indigenous people are quiet and no one is challenging their decision on each matter. The people should wake up and stand up for their rights based on the constitution. The attorney general is elected to see all this matter that is affecting the livelihood of the indigenous people of this great Commonwealth. The attorney general should have some sort of auditing on its foreclosed house owned by the local people. Mr. Governor, I am pleading to you to please help us since you stated on your inaugural message, to be open and be of help. The indigenous people are waiting for the sitting elected official for his help on this matter. Remember the elections are not far away again. Enough about helping Best Sunshine or other businesses. Please help protect your indigenous people on their rights because a lot of the local people cannot afford lawyers. And a lot of this crooked lawyers that are probably rejects from the mainland are just here to fill up their pockets by siphoning the local people and then leave the island for good. A very good example is Mr. Jorgensen. I ask the indigenous practicing lawyers to please help by sharing some of your thoughts as lawyers to the people. The Lord said help your neighbors and your brothers and sisters…I remember the old Chamorro saying from the man’amko…Munga munapiniti sa yangin tariamo, mas addit asta I finataimo. In line with this, the only thing coming with us when we die is our sins, nothing else.
