If you think the last few days had been wet, expect even wetter weather ahead.

Based on the information received from the National Weather Service in Guam and compiled at the CNMI Emergency Operations Center State Warning Point, wetter weather is possible next week on Saipan, Tinian and Rota. A series of passing disturbances could bring periods of heavy rain to these islands from Monday, Aug. 15, to Friday, Aug. 19.

Sufficient heavy rain could cause urban and small stream flooding. Rainfall amounts of up to 6 inches are possible, although many areas will get less. Closely monitor this developing situation in the event watches, advisories or warnings are needed. Make sure nearby storm drains are not clogged, especially if living in low-lying areas.

Localized flooding will be possible in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Check storm drains in your area to make sure they are not clogged. If planning anything outdoors this weekend, have a backup plan in place. (PR)
