Happy virthday to two classical musicians from the Baroque era born in May. Both wrote operas, sacred and secular music. Alessandro Scarlatti (born May 2,1660 – died Oct. 22, 1725) wrote over 500 sonatas for harpsichord. Claudio Monteverdi (baptized on May 15, 1567 – died Nov. 29, 1643) is considered the father of operas in the Baroque style.
H.M.M.M.? Here is a fantasia in rustic mode with due respect for Handel, Mozart, and Marin Marais; Haydn, Monteverdi, Monk and Mingus. Each one a marvelous musical genius from the 17th to 20th century.

fifths and thirds blues birds sounds in the night
tenor saxophones and geese honk urban blight
hear the windsong, lutes, recorders and flutes
Django Reinhardt and Bud Powell in cahoots
hear harps horns and high hats humoresque hum
